I’m using 3.11rc2, and encountered this bug. There was a PR to fix this, but this fix was done on main (3.12). would it be okay for me to create a PR to merge its fixes to older version?
Bug fixes are routinely backported when sensible to do so. Many or most bugfixes can be automatically backported. Report on the issue that you encountered the bug in 3.11 and request that the fix be backported if possible. No request was made to backport or any discussion thereof. Perhaps Vinay did not think the bug existed in 3.11. Perhaps he thought backported would be difficult.
