Please help us improve pip!

Hi folks!

My name is Nicole - I’m a UX researcher and designer working on Python packaging.

At the moment I am helping the pip team to improve the way that pip works for all users.

As part of this work, I’ve just published a “buy a feature” game, where you can tell us what pip functionality is most important to you.

We’d love you to participate here: http://bit.ly/buy-a-pip-feature

We’re also looking to speak to pip users about the way that they use pip. If you’re available for a 30 minute chat, please sign up to our user panel: https://bit.ly/pip-ux-studies

In the coming weeks, I will post more surveys here. Please ping me if you have any questions or comments.

Model working solutions like Cargo and Yarn. Package management is my #1 frustration when dealing with Python applications. pip freeze is not a valid form of lockfile.

Excellent job @nlhkabu and team on a very well done ux-study.

I highly encourage folks to participate. It takes less than 10 minutes to do so.

@mburszley - you’ll be happy to know that we are looking at both Cargo and Yarn as part of our research. We will add more information on the relevant ticket as we have it. If you would like to speak to a member of the pip UX team about your packaging frustrations, please sign up to participate in user interviews here.

Thanks for your encouragement @willingc
