In our previous posts, we shared the high-level goals of the PSF’s strategic plan and published the full draft for community feedback. Today, we are sharing the outcome: at its July 8 meeting, the board adopted the PSF Strategic Plan 2026 as the foundation’s strategic plan for 2026 to 2031. Read the full context in our new blog post.
You can also read the adopted plan here: PSF Strategic Plan 2026.
And a nicer formatted version can be found in the PSF Strategic Plan 2026 PDF.
We have also launched a new PSF strategy page, bringing together the adopted plan, its priorities, the background to its development, and the annual review process. The PSF strategy repository on GitHub is the home for the plan’s Markdown text, changelog, and revision history.
For context: The board passed two resolutions: one adopting the plan and one establishing an annual review. Each year, the board will assess progress against the goals, evaluate whether priorities need to shift, incorporate feedback from PSF staff and the community, and publish a summary of findings and any changes made. The first review is due by July 8, 2027.
The adopted plan includes changes following the June consultation. Community feedback added translation and localization to the accessibility work, clearer pathways for companies that want to fund specific work, and PSF membership growth to the financial sustainability ideas. Earlier staff feedback had already added the Security Baseline and Vulnerability Management objectives before the public draft, and sharpened wording across the organizational goals. The plan’s “How This Plan Was Shaped” section documents the process.
The implementation has already started: the 2026 Grants Program Funding Round is a concrete step under the plan’s grants reform direction. Applications closed on August 25.
We also know the community is waiting for updated financial information. The PSF has engaged an external accounting firm to support this work, and we will share an update as soon as the numbers are ready for publication.
