I’d like to try building my next website with python because I prefer python tools to those in Wordpress? What programs are recommended to do a website with only modest code?
I don’t know about the best but I’ve been pretty happy with Pelican.

If you’re looking for a CMS like WordPress, Plone comes to mind. Django-CMS may also be an option.
