Aplogoies if this isn’t directly related to python, i didn’t know where to ask hence the github page has over 2000 open issues which are apparently not being actively solved.

I’m running an amd gpu and tried following the instructions for windows-os from here,
AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui/ on github

Not clue what to do.

The issue is numpy is not available for your interpreter:

Now, that’s hard to believe, since you’re using Python 3.10.6, but, lo and behold: https://rocm.nightlies.amd.com/v2-staging/gfx120X-all/numpy/ - only Python 3.11, 3.12 and 3.13 have numpy wheels at that index. I do reproduce your error as a result.

Fwiw, changing –index-url to –extra-index-url(this means PyPI can be used to find numpy in addition to the rocm nightlies index) nets me apparent success:

So the “Automatic Installation on Windows” bullet item 1 seems to be what’s getting you here:

Install Python 3.10.6 (Newer version of Python does not support torch), checking “Add Python to PATH”.

Lower down they acknowledge 3.11; so maybe try all this with Python 3.11 as another way past the custom index not having numpy wheels for 3.10.

Thank you for taking time to share all this info!

I really tried just to follow the official instructions from the 1111 github page.

But it apparently must be outdated then? Hence it doesnt work. Or im the problem?

Here is what i did exactly,

git clone https://github.com/lshqqytiger/stable-diffusion-webui-directml && cd stable-diffusion-webui-directml && git submodule init && git submodule update
after running into an issue with pytorch, i manually downloaded the file from here,
https://download.pytorch.org/whl/cu117/torch-1.13.1%2Bcu117-cp310-cp310-win_amd64.whl
and placed it in \stablediffusion\venv\Scripts\ folder. so that was solved.
then i ran python.exe -m pip install --upgrade pip and the cmd responded requirements already satisfied.
after this i edited the webui-user.bat file, i changed only the commandline_args by adding --xformers
the file now looks like this:

set COMMANDLINE_ARGS= --xformers

call webui.bat

then i continued with the official instructions, Double-click webui-user.bat
but keep running into the same error.

Could you explain how and where i must change –index-url to –extra-index-url and i wonder is this info not present on the 1111 github or am i blind?
But from what i understand i need to either edit a file and add -extra-index-url, or i must add this to a command which i must run? i cant just download numphy from the link you shared and place it in venv scripts folder? Honestly this is for me the first time trying out AI so i dont know to much of what im doing other than following instructions.

The instructions are outdated. I gave you the key point about the custom --index-url. From there you should be able to dig in, search and fix. For example, searching: Code search results · GitHub

That said, I think it’d be easier to just ignore the outdated advice about Python 3.10.6 and install and use Python 3.11, 3.12 or 3.13.

Python is a friendly language but it has an almost actively antagonistic packaging ecosystem. To get along in that ecosystem you’ll be forced to learn things you shouldn’t have to. So fair warning that you need to work harder at packaging than what you came for - namely the language.

ive installed latest python version now and ran,
