The Terms and Services make a number of references to PSF policies, and they are hosted on a website entitled “Python Software Foundation Policies”, so I think it’s safe to assume that ultimately PyPI is being run by the PSF.
That’s a red herring. Of course daily PyPI activities are delegated to a large extent without involving PSF management.
That’s a fair point of view, but the fact that they are now being bluntly explicit in their “we do what we want” policy is certainly cause for concern.
Well, I wasn’t assuming bad faith, but I apologize anyway if you felt personally attacked. That wasn’t my attempt.
What I was expressing strong disagreement with, however, is the general idea (expressed all too often in FLOSS communities) that just because one is giving something away for free, they have zero obligation towards their peers or users. If that isn’t your opinion, then again I apologize.
