# Packaging support for riscv64

There’s been quite a bit of progress over the summer so I thought it worthwhile to update the thread to reflect the latest status.

1. Manylinux now [supports riscv64](https://github.com/pypa/manylinux/pull/1743). manylinux\_2\_39\_riscv64 and musllinux\_1\_2\_riscv64 images are available on [quay.io](http://quay.io).
2. Cibuildwheel [v3.1.0](https://github.com/pypa/cibuildwheel/releases/tag/v3.1.0) added support for riscv64 via an experimental option and enabled riscv64 support by default in [v3.1.2](https://github.com/pypa/cibuildwheel/releases/tag/v3.1.2).
3. warehouse also now [supports](https://github.com/pypi/warehouse/issues/18243) riscv64.

With these changes it is now possible to build riscv64 manylinux and musllinux wheels with an unpatched, upstream cibuildwheel and to upload the built wheels to PyPI. At least two projects, uv and maturin, have uploaded riscv64 wheels to PyPI.
