It’s quite a substantial update and this thread is fairly cold, so we decided to start a new thread instead of adding to this one. I did go through this thread again and ensured that the remaining questions here (there were several) are explicitly addressed by a design update or covered in Rejected Ideas. As a follow-up to close this thread, I will add one more reply to explicitly connect changes in the PEP to questions/ideas here if the conversation on them seems incomplete. Actual discussion can then move to the new thread.
We feel the PEP is in good shape now. The previous version had a number of open issues and TODOs, this one does not and we’re pretty happy with it. That said, it’s a large update, so I’d expect new feedback that requires more edits or (hopefully only minor) design changes.
Timelines for PEP reviews are quite unpredictable so no guarantees - but I personally hope to wrap this up by November.
