I think that this is a very poor take on tactical voting. Is someone an “asshole” for voting for their second favorite candidate instead of their favorite candidate in a first-past-the-post election, thus ensuring that their least favorite candidate will win? If not, why is someone an asshole for ranking their second favorite candidate as their first ranked candidate, so that their least preferred candidate won’t win?
