Acknowledgements of people contributing to Python’s success

Given the recent release of the Python documentary, it seems to me to be a good time to give a small acknowledgement to people that helped make Python successful. I suspect for any documentary that covers such a large community project, a lot of important people got either left out completely or got little coverage. That’s true in this case.
