I think I’ve seen tools parse

V = 'hello' #: this is the docstring for V

As a way of doing one liner

Similarly also for two lines:

#: this is the docstring for V
V = 'hello'

You’re probably referring to Sphinx’s autoattribute, which also supports docstrings after the attribute
