At this point, it would need more than just “support from the community” to change it. There’s code using the existing form, documentation and training courses have been written, books have been published, etc.
To justify a change now would require clear benefits, and an understanding of what was wrong with the original decision. Frankly that seems extremely unlikely to happen - I think you’d be better simply dropping this idea.
