Welcome to Discourse, say hi!

This is the Python Software Foundation’s discussion forum. We are currently trying it out for CPython core developers with the intent to replace the existing mailing lists (python-committers, python-dev, python-list, and python-ideas).

Feel free to test it out with us here! You can use this category to post your introduction. Posts here don’t end up in “Latest” or “Top”.

The GIF (movie?) with the slowly moving cursor creeps me out.

I made the description relevant to us so the animation is no longer distracting viewers. Thanks for reporting

Thanks. Also, why does it say “this clinic”? Are we entering into a lunatic asylum?

It’s play, maybe a little too subtle, on the argument clinic.

Subtlety doesn’t go over well on the internet.

Good point. I made it a little bit more obvious.

Hi, looks like sharing code snippets is much nicer here than over emails

3 posts were split to a new topic: Moving core-mentorship

We can post dates that are displayed in several timezones. Example:

Hi. So why can’t I reply to Lukasz’s message about who gets to vote?

In fact, there are many postings that don’t have a Reply button any where that I can see. E.g. @jackjansen’s post about whether Discourse is really better than a mailing list. Is it just me, or is it Discourse, or is it something about that “channel”?

@barry You could not answer because you were not in the core committers group (you are now). The committers category can be read by anyone but only people in the core dev group can post. You should be able to reply and see now the reply buttons.

Wow, this is much more appealing than the mailing list!

Hi, I’m Bhathiya. I recently joined.

It was nice to see Python now have a discourse. Good work.

Hello,

I’m Anselm. I just joined discourse and I’m curious, if it will replace extensive discussions on the mailing lists.
