# What is the pass statement in Python?

I believe that Python documentation has it well covered: [pass statements](https://docs.python.org/3/tutorial/controlflow.html#pass-statements).

> The pass statement does nothing. It can be used when a statement is required syntactically but the program requires no action.

You normally just use it as a temporary placeholder (e.g. for a code block you want to fill with senseful code later) during development.
