I am 81 years old, a retired professor of music theory. I got into programming as a doctoral student in the late 60s: FORTRAN, SNOBOL, LISP, some Assembly. Wrote a diss using computer-assisted music analysis. Later taught musical applications in FORTRAN, Basic, and Hypercard. Now, in retirement, enjoying learning a new language for fun. Example: A program to demonstrate the incompatibility of equal-tempered tuning and the natural acoustic perfect fifth.
