- We met with Emma Smith to discuss the Rust-in-Python project. Emma was looking for some guidance on how to structure a future PEP on the topic, with an eye toward the experience of the free-threading project. Another topic of discussion was adding this as an experiment in main, which seems required to gain the necessary data points for a future go-no-go decision. We spent the majority of the meeting talking about this project, and we believe that we provided sufficient answers to move forward with Emma’s new PEP.
- No PEP’s were decided on this time, partly because of the SCOH, and partly because we were missing a couple of members this week. We know that we’ll likely get an influx of PEPs before beta 1, so we’re prepared to focus on those both asynchronously and as a priority for the next few weeks.
- We discussed hosts and venues for this year’s core dev sprint in the USA. We will need to find a host and venue, as the previously hoped for sponsor won’t materialize.
- We discussed the budget and logistics for the benchmark runner hosts.
- Next week’s agenda: PEP 800, 806, 822, 820
