- We met with Łukasz and focused on the Developer-in-Residence transition as he is leaving (
). We covered account and credential handoffs, the planned decommissioning of the legacy buildbot (bigmem coverage is available elsewhere), the still-pending memory.python.org migration, and documentation coordination. The group discussed with Petr and Deb how the DiR responsibilities would be structured going forward. - We reviewed the current status of the experimental JIT project. This is an ongoing discussion that needs more time, and we will publish a formal announcement of the SC’s position once we have concluded it. (We have since done so.)
- We discussed several PEPs and concluded most of the ones we had in the queue:
- PEP 831 (Adding frame pointers by default): accepted! (Acceptance notice.)
- PEP 661 (Sentinel Values): moving toward acceptance. (Since accepted.)
- PEP 829 (Structured Startup Configuration via .site.toml Files): we discussed the deprecation timeline and settled on a 3-year deprecation period. An acceptance will be drafted. (Since accepted.)
- PEP 820 (PySlot: Unified slot system for the C API): accepted! (Acceptance notice.)
- Preparing for the SC PyCon US presentation timeline has been pushed back. We started to discuss how we will approach this year SC presentation and how to coordinate the work.
- Agenda for next meeting:
- Follow-up on the experimental JIT communication
- PEP 830 (Add timestamps to exceptions and tracebacks)
- PyCon US presentation
