Guidance on creating a PyPI Organization for an open-source organization

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance on creating a PyPI Organization for Plizent Foundation.

I’ve already submitted an organization request to PyPI Support, but I’m still waiting for an update. I’d like to understand whether there is anything else I should provide or any recommended way to follow up on the request.

The purpose is to manage our Python packages under an organization rather than an individual account. We already use organization-level ownership on several other package registries and would like to maintain the same structure on PyPI.

For anyone familiar with PyPI/Warehouse:

  • Is there a specific process or timeline for PyPI Organization requests?

  • Is there anything additional I should provide to PyPI Support?

  • Is there a recommended way to follow up on an existing organization request?

I swear I answered this today, but I can’t find the post. Regardless, you probably just need to be patient. PyPI isn’t staffed to have a quick turnaround on this. I think I heard it takes a couple of months so get an org approved.

Otherwise having an email address that matches the org name helps to verify validity.
