Request to become coordinator for Marathi translation (python-docs-mr)

Hello everyone!

I noticed that the official Marathi translation repository (python-docs-mr) and Python Docs Translation Dashboard entry are currently inactive (coverage at ~0.05%) and the listed coordinator (@sanketgarade) is no longer active on the repo.

As a native Marathi speaker, I would like to step up under PEP 545 to reactivate and manage the Marathi translation project. I am prepared to handle administrative tasks, merge incoming PRs/strings, and coordinate translation efforts.

Could a member of the Docs-SIG advise on the next steps to transfer stewardship?

Have you tried contributing to the existing Marathi repository?

Please reach out to Sanket and offer your support. Ideally, he should be the one to welcome you as a co-coordinator.

I had an email exchange with the current coordinator, and he has confirmed that he is happy to hand over ownership of the repository to me as he is unable to actively maintain it anymore.

I am now coordinating with him to transfer the repository under my Github account and I will work towards bootstrapping Python 3.14 translations.

Could you please ask Sanket to create a pull request targeting devguide’s Translating article reflecting the change in the coordination team and in the repository URL address after you finalise the move of the repository?

Sure, I have sent out the updates about the pull request. I will post an update again once there are changes.
