PSF Board nomination AMA for Keith Murray

Hello all,

Seeing as the new Python Packaging Council Nomination AMA threads seem like a lovely idea, I figured I’d jump in and start a thread for my nomination for the PSF Board of Directors.

You can read my nomination statement here. There’s two things I’d like to see develop further over the next few years in addition to the supporting general goals outlined in Python Software Foundation Strategic Plan 2026. Namely: I hope to improve the PSF Membership experience and encourage a re-organization of some of the python.org website.

Regarding the PSF Membership experience, a huge goal I envision is formalizing a way to nominate individuals in the Python Community to PSF Contributing Membership, and migrating the management for membership under a subdomain of python.org to help reduce confusion when first using the form.

There’s a lot more I care about, and hope to see furthered (such as education resources), but I wanted to make sure that aspect was highlighted.

Feel free to ask me anything!

With the formation of the Packaging Python Council (PPC) today to vote in this election you need to be a PSF voting member. This requires one of the 3 paths documented here Become a Member of the PSF | Python Software Foundation. Going ahead how do you think the PSF board and the PPC should work together? Do you think the 3 required paths sufficient to make sure no one feels excluded from the packaging story? If not, how would you improve on it?

Thanks and best of luck Keith!
