Hello everyone,
I have started a Punjabi (India) translation effort for the Python documentation and would like to introduce the project and ask for guidance from the documentation translation community.
Repository:
Current progress:
- tutorial/introduction.po — completed
- tutorial/controlflow.po — completed
- tutorial/appetite.po — completed
- tutorial/interpreter.po — completed
Project infrastructure currently includes:
- Translation style guide
- Glossary
- Contributor guidelines
- GitHub Actions validation workflow
I would appreciate guidance on a few questions:
-
Is there any existing Punjabi translation effort that I should coordinate with?
-
Should Punjabi documentation use the language code
paorpa-IN? -
What is the recommended process for becoming an officially recognized translation project?
-
Are there any requirements or milestones that should be completed before requesting inclusion on the translation dashboard?
-
Are there any current translation tools or workflows preferred by the Python documentation team that I should adopt before continuing further work?
I would be grateful for any recommendations from maintainers and current translation coordinators.
Thank you.
