Voting Eligibility for upcoming Steering Council Election (2026 Term)

The draft PEP for the 2026 Term Steering Council Election is now open for review at PEP 8107 - Python Steering Council Election - 2026 Term by ewdurbin · Pull Request #4664 · python/peps · GitHub . This year has a LARGE change in moving to BLOC Star voting, so careful review of the voting configuration would be appreciated.

The initial voter role has also been prepared at https://github.com/python/voters/pull/111 (private repository).

This year, 28 core devs received the following notification:

While preparing the voter roll for the 2026 term Steering Council Election, your status on the Python Core Dev team was determined to be Inactive per PEP 13 at the date of 2025-11-27.

You can see the voter roll that was generated and status messages at https://github.com/python/voters/pull/111.

Per PEP 13, you’re being notified of your pending status change to “Inactive”.

If you wish to remain active:
	Please respond to this email with “Stay Active” before 2025-11-27 and your record will be updated to reflect active status.

If you wish to be marked as inactive:
	Please respond to this email with “Make Inactive”.

If you do not reply stating your intention to remain active, your status will remain as inactive. Inactive Core Dev team members will not have voting privileges in the Steering Council Election commencing 2025-11-28.
