I recently discovered that my name was added to a LinkedIn post and GitHub repository without my consent, and the content does not reflect my values or the work I stand for.
I, Abigail Dogbe would like to dissociate myself completely from Mr Franz Király and his plans regarding the PSF’s future and the ongoing elections. Despite his consistent posts and mentions of my name, we are NOT in cahoots, and I don’t share the vision he espouses.
I am indeed running for the PSF Board, and I would love the opportunity to offer my time, experiences and skills in pushing the PSF’s vision, specifically in areas of education, and community building. To learn more, kindly view my nomination statement here.
Kindly lend me your support by voting for me, and/or sharing.
Do either of the other two mentioned nominees support Franz Kiràly’s statement? Neither of them mention anything about the “Python Software Federation” in their nominee statements, which AFAICT is the central goal.
He repeatedly uses “we” as if behind the “Python Software Federation” imitative there are multiple people. However, it seems like this is not the case - it’s just him. It definitely doesn’t appear to be the other nominees he is mentioning.
I can attest that Abigail is not affiliated whatsoever with Franz and they do not share the same visions for the community. I have known Abigail personally for years. We have met in person many times at PyCon US and PyOhio, and we are currently collaborating together in PyLadiesCon where we met once a week.
Abigail’s dedication to the community is admirable and she has always put the community first. Each time we met and chat, ‘m always hearing of her ideas and ways to lift her community.
Abigail gets my vote in the election. Thank you Abigail for stepping up !
Thank you Abigail for clarifying your position and association.
While I think it is ok for Mr. Király and his Python Software Federation to endorse you as a candidate, I do believe it is acceptable for Abigail to clarify her position. Clearly, the questions that she received indicates that Mr. Király’s endorsement created confusion about whether you were running as a slate.
I also restate that my endorsement of Abigail for the PSF (Python Software Foundation) Board.
I wanted to say that I’m not affiliated with the Federation initiative in any way or form and I’m wondering why I was dragged into this topic.
I only exchanged a few messages with Franz on LinkedIn, and then I received a message saying he supported me and thanked me for what I do for the Polish community.
I replied “thank you” specifically to that mention.
I was unpleasantly surprised that my name was added to that marketing post on LinkedIn and to that page on GitHub.
I find a lot of messages here have gone off topic. This thread is meant to clarify Abigail’s position and the fact that she is not collaborating with Franz.
If you all want to get clarification about the Gc-os org, I suggest discussing in a separate thread.
Split off topic discussion to Separate organization using "PSF" acronym during election. Attempted to move all clearly off topic posts there, but had to make a judgement call since some of the original posts here were also referring to the original topic. Please post about Franz’s organization in the other topic.
Abigail or Mesrenyame (sorry I never met you, I don’t know what name you go by), you have my moral support. As a non-card-carrying Python user, I don’t think I can vote anyway.
Thanks for clarifying this, Abigail. It’s important that everyone’s name and reputation are respected during the election process. Wishing you the best with your candidacy and your focus on education and community building.
