Hello from Cape Town, South Africa

Hey guys, I’m very much new to Python, my skills with google sheets and excel landed me a job opportunity as data analyst and I need to get to grips with python, SQL and some BI tools.

Just saying hello, I guess. If you guys maybe have quick advice or pointers on where to start, that would be great. I have installed Anaconda, but cannot make Thonny work with it and I’m hitting dead ends with a script I’m trying to run.

Anyway, mostly I’ve used Gemini and Copilot to do the coding for me, but they get things wrong… I’m trying to get a starting point to actually learn it myself, but really, I have no clue where to even begin…

Hello, @Ubuntupy and @MasonBlack. Welcome to the Python community!

We hope you enjoy learning Python. During your learning, if you have questions regarding your programs or anything else about Python, the best place to ask them on this forum is within the popular Python Help category. Also see existing discussions in other categories to find out more about how people are working together to develop future versions of Python, and to develop and distribute Python products that others may find useful.

In order to prepare for participating in the discussions here, please see the following pages for information that may enhance your benefit from those discussions:

The first of those two pages offers important information about how to format Python code and output for correct display if you post such content while asking and answering questions.

This would be a good issue to ask about in that Python Help category.

We wish you both the best of success with learning Python!
