Language Summit at EuroPython 2026

Following on from this topic and this poll, I’m happy to announce that the Steering Council has approved having the next Language Summit at EuroPython 2026!

The EuroPython Society plan to announce the location and date in the new year, stay tuned.

Since this part isn’t entirely obvious, based on the questions I’ve seen: this means there will be no Language Summit at PyCon US 2026, nor anything else Core Team related on the Wednesday before the conference (the traditional time slot).

The Language Summit will (for now) alternate between PyCon US and EuroPython, so there will be a Language Summit at PyCon US 2027.

I’m not in any way involved in the organisation. But in case you haven’t seen it, it looks like 13-19 July, Kraków, Poland (based on https://ep2026.europython.eu/)

Thank you for updating the thread! Yes, EuroPython 2026 will take place in Kraków, Poland on July 13-19 :slightly_smiling_face:

This year we are also having a special collaboration with EuroSciPy, and we will have joint sprints together!

So the timeline will look like:
Tutorials & Summits: July 13-14 (LS on 14th based on core team feedback)
Main Conference: July 15-17
Sprints Weekend: July 18-19 (joint sprints with EuroSciPy)

And if folks are also attending EuroSciPy:
EuroSciPy Talks: July 20-21
EuroSciPy Tutorials: July 22-23

And when is the Language Summit in that week?

So far, feedback from the core team has been in favor of Tuesday, July 14th, 2026.

The current plan is to follow a standard full-day schedule: 09:00 start, coffee break, lunch, coffee break, and 17:00 end.
