Only if those 1.x releases were integrated in the downloads page (and IIRC there’s already some argument about how to organize the existing downloads page better). Even if it’s 20+ years old and completely impractical to use today, it would be terrible to lose that history. There are entire communities of people who revel in stuff like that for its own sake.
The first is meant for older releases not using the python.org release
system, the latter for current ones, so unless the content is merged
from the releases page to the downloads one, this doesn’t make sense.
