Wiki.python.org: access to data dump of contents

Hi,

I’m wondering if there’s an accessible dump of the data of wiki.python.org?

I understand the source is discussed here: Where's the source for wiki.python.org?

The theme is discussed here: Wiki.python.org is not mobile-friendly (and indeed improved “recently” here: Add mobile-friendly CSS by hugovk · Pull Request #1 · malemburg/moin-europython-theme · GitHub )

Is anyone aware of where the actual contents itself might be easily accessible? Obviously what this means is highly variable but any information/background would be great.

Thanks!

I’m not sure, but my gut feeling is that this would require administrative permissions (since a full dump of a wiki could potentially include private pages - there aren’t many of those on this wiki and they’re purely administrative, but the concept still exists). If you don’t find anything else, I would advise contacting the pydotorg-www mailing list where all the wiki admins hang out.

We don’t have a dump of the wiki publicly available, since this would include lots of PII and also a few private pages which we cannot easily make public.

Now, the main question is: Why would you want to have access to such a dump ?

The public contents are available, the history of each page is available as well and pages can easily be edited - you just need to ask for editor permissions by sending an email to pydotorg-www mailing list.

The source is OSS and available from https://moinmo.in/. The moin team is currently working on a version 2.0 and we are planning to migrate to this new version once it’s stable enough.

The theme we use is available as well via a repo I created for this purpose. I can take changes from there and then install them on the prod system.

PS: I am one of the wiki admins.

Thanks @malemburg for the detailed response.

I’ve contacted pydotorg-www mailing list as @Rosuav recommended.
